wisdom: i need it

I always discover what I want for Christmas when its too late and all the presents that I will be getting have already been bought. But I just discovered this book that I think looks really interesting. Its called Wisdom by Andrew Zuckerman. It is full of cool pictures and interesting design. It has portraits of and wise words from 50 influential people from Nelson Mandela and Vaclav Havel to Jane Goodall and Judi Dench. It looks very interesting and I think I would enjoy reading it and having it on my coffee table.

On the website there's a video of snippets of some of these people speaking and some more pictures.

Its bitterly cold here for the past few days - my carpool's car didn't even start this morning so 45 minutes before I was to write an exam I found out that we had no ride. But with my calm attitude, I was able to think of someone to call, who just happened to be going into town at the same time as us and could give us a ride. phew! talk about stressful exams.

Really yummy - Mix a bit of cinnamon into your hot chocolate mix - i don't really know a good ratio - start with less then add more if you need to - doesn't need a lot. ITs super good!!

Not in a very talkative mood - just studying lots for exams. Oh, and my power cord for my computer stopped working. so i'm using my roommate's computer, and currently bidding for a replacement cord on ebay. Ah, ebay how I love you.
Just saw this picture and it made me laugh -

I do actually like MaryKate's style usually - although sometimes its a little weird for me. But this picture just made me laugh. It made me think of this similar looking woman. Now I get that we can get inspiration from everywhere but is this character from a classic movie really a style icon?

Back from the wedding! Straight back into the swing of things at school - finished up my last project today though so now all I have left are my exams starting Thursday. So that means lots of procrastination time to be had! haha

I have a few pictures from my weekend - I'm not posting pictures of other people though so they're limited but to show you my dress and my pretty hair here we are.

First, this is just me hanging out. The wedding was in Northern Alberta and we got some snow the night we got there and more the day of the wedding. I took a walk one day and just enjoyed the fresh air. I even climbed a fence and ran to the top of the hill in the middle of the fields. It was glorious.

This is the gift Sinead - the bride - gave us bridesmaids. It is called a claddagh ring. Sinead is Irish so this ring has alot of meaning. The Irish use claddagh rings as a symbol of friendship or sometimes as a wedding ring. There are three elements to the ring - the hands represent friendship, the heart represents love, and the crown represents loyalty. The ring that we received also has an Irish design on the sides.
The cool thing about this ring is that depending on the way you wear it, it shows your romantic availability. So if you wear the ring with the heart facing outwards, it means you are "open to love" - you're single. And if you wear it with the heart facing towards you, it means that someone has "captured your heart" and you are taken.
Its a perfect present and I love it so much. This picture is of the ring on top of the wedding invitation.

The rest of these pictures are just me being silly and having a photo shoot. It was a great wedding and we got to hang out with and meet both families who were wonderful and so nice. And the groomsmen were really fun to hang out with too. It was a bit of a cold day for pictures but I think we got some nice ones. Maybe when I get those I'll post some up. So this is just a little taste. Oh and I got my hair done which was fun. I didn't end up really liking the back but that doesn't really matter. And the dresses were made by the mother of the bride which is amazing!! It looks like there's a bow there but there's not. And the bouquets were white roses with greenery and little green "coffee beans."

It was a wonderful weekend and I was so honored to be a part of it. Congratulations Sinead and Nathan!

Mixing Textures

I had a very busy weekend, mostly spent doing homework (bleh...) and spending time with a couple good friends (yay!). Nothing too interesting to report. Although I did go to a CD Release Party on Saturday night. For Lowana Wallace's new Christmas CD. She's a local artist and had a wonderful party and she played gorgeous music. That was wonderful and really got me in the Christmassy mood. Yay!

This week is going to be really busy too. I really am finding it hard to believe that it is December 1 of 2008. Wow. I have alot of work to do in the next couple weeks and its going to go by so quickly. And my friend gets married on Saturday! I'm very excited about it. But I have a fair bit of work to do...

I just have a boring post today but really beautiful pictures to show - I reeally want to incorporate more sequins into my wardrobe ( haha yikes that sounds sorta lame) and I love these lace gloves. I would be happy with leather ones too. :)
